Chateau de Malle's 1990 is the finest sweet wine the estate had made in decades. Certainly it is an outstanding effort, and given the reasonable price, it is a noteworthy purchase. The 1990 is full-bodied, with excellent sweetness, fine purity, and plenty of rich, honeyed fruit buttressed by noticeable new oak. It has not yet developed the complexity and aromatics displayed by the 1988, but the 1990 is clearly an outstanding effort for the vintage. It should evolve gracefully for 10-15 years.
