There are three and a quarter barrels of the brilliant 2018 Echézeaux du Dessus Grand Cru, a dramatic and expressive wine that soars from the glass with aromas of spices, burning embers, red berries, cassis, citrus peel and plums. It's full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a broad, creamily textural attack, striking mid-palate amplitude and a long, resonant finish of notable purity and precision. This isn't too far off the level of the 2015 rendition, the wine I would single out as the best Echézeaux that Tremblay has bottled to date.
