Maturation in a Spanish oak sherry cask naturally coloured the 1976 vintage in glorious amber. Aromas of toffee apple, dates and vanilla overlay cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg spices on a background of peat-tinged woodsmoke and polished oak. The palate of wood spice and smoke, touched with peaches and dates, finishes in dried fruit, spice and oak. A single butt, filled on 10th November 1976, was selected as the best current expression of that year. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, this whisky derives all of its colour from 29 years in the cask.
