Light citrus, almond, butter, wet rocks on the nose at first. About a half hour later ( ie 90 minutes after opening) an amazing scent of the Atlantic Ocean just washed over me - more than just chalk or salinity, I have never quite smelled this before. On the palate steel, beurre noisette, green apple, touch of apricot. Elegant and understated. Haunting. (Cellar Tracker, Jan 2019, 98-99 Pts)
A beautiful Haut-Brion Blanc, the 1999 has put on considerable weight. It reveals characteristics of dried herbs, olives, smoke, buttery citrus, grapefruit, and a hint of orange skin. The wine is medium-bodied, with good acidity as well as a luscious flavor profile. Anticipated maturity: now-2020. Last tasted, 1/03. (Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate Bordeaux Book, 4th Edition, Jan 2003, 92 Pts)
